My name is Pieta Ockelton. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCAP). I have a degree in Integrative Counselling and have a BA Hons Degree in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Personal and Corporate Coaching. I work as a Primary Care Counsellor for Focus, an NHS service provider in Hull. I have experience working for Hull Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Service, Inner Child Potential, Cruse Bereavement Care as well as private clients with varied issues. My Private Practice is based in Brough and Hull.
My aim is to provide counselling in a welcoming and safe environment where you can talk about and explore feelings and thoughts in confidence. With my extensive life experience I offer a non-judgemental, empathic and congruent approach. Being an Integrative Counsellor I can draw from different approaches to suit each client and use advanced CBT skills.
Issues I explore with clients include: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Sexual Abuse, Mental Abuse, Physical Abuse, Stress, Anger, Panic Attacks, Bereavement, Gambling Addiction, Relationship Issues, Low Self-Esteem, Sexuality, Work Related Issues, Rape, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, OCD, Weight Issues and Motivation Issues.
The process that occurs when a client and counsellor set aside time in order to explore difficulties which may include the stressful or emotional feelings of the client.
The act of helping the client to see things more clearly, possibly from a different view-point. This can enable the client to focus on feelings, experiences or behaviour, with a goal to facilitating positive change.
A relationship of trust. Confidentiality is paramount to successful counselling. Professional counsellors will usually explain their policy on confidentiality, they may, however, be required by law to disclose information if they believe that there is a risk to life.
A sessions cost £40 and lasts for 1 hour.
Concessions are available for students.
A client contract must be signed on our first meeting. This will include confidentiality, ethics, fees and a complaints procedure.
